LAGRANGEVILLE – Heath Quest, the parent company to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, is now approved for two residency programs.
The Accrediting Council for Graduate Medical Education has approved the Health Quest Internal Medicine Residency Program, which will join the hospital group’s Surgery Residency Program, which was approved earlier this year. The first classes will begin in July 2019.
“Our curriculum and clinical training will prepare graduates to be not only independent practitioners or candidates for fellowship training, but also leaders in the field of medicine,” said Dr. Christopher Stenberg, vice president of Graduate Medical Education for Health Quest. “It is our expectation that many of these talented providers who come here for their residencies will decided to make this their permanent home.”
Health Quest plans to grow its residency programs with specialties in family medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, and orthopedics. The goal is to have over 200 residents in all specialties by 2021.
Recently Health Quest announced in partnership with Marist College the development of a medical college on the campus of Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
