ELLENVILLE – Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Wawarsing man on a felony assault charge for allegedly beating an Ellenville man.
At round 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, a man was taken to Ellenville Regional Hospital suffering from broken bones.
Preliminary investigation said that the man had been involved in a dispute with a neighbor on Mill Street in Ellenville. Shortly thereafter, three men showed up at the victim’s apartment, bludgeoned him with a motorcycle helmet and punched him several times.
Detectives located the primary suspect, Lubin Castano, 31, on Wednesday afternoon at a convenience store in the Town of Wawarsing. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
The investigation is continuing. Additional charges and arrests are likely, police said.
