NEWBURGH – Dr. Roberto
Padilla, superintendent of the Enlarged Newburgh City School District,
is seeking the aid of the City of Newburgh in taking their technology
efforts to the next level.

Right now, all students from grades three through 12 have Chrome Pads
at their disposal with the older students being allowed to take them home.
Padilla is concerned that some kids do not have access to high-speed Internet
at home and therefore cannot continue their educational exploration after
school.

Mayor Torrance Harvey would like to establish a technology hub in the
city to help resolve that problem.

“Where people can come to the technology tower or center in our
downtown area, have access; there should be seminar rooms where students
or even adults can get training on cyber security, networking, how to
read code, to whatever extent they want to engage in technology,”
he said.
To that end, Harvey would like to create a technology task force of city
and school district officials.
