KINGSTON – Ulster County
Sheriff’s detectives have concluded the investigation of a fatal
motor vehicle accident that occurred on April 30 on Route 9W in Ulster
Park.

A bicyclist, Justin Boyd, of Ulster Park, was struck by a 2013 Ford F150
truck operated by Michael Brailey of Red Hook. Boyd was killed in that
incident.

Investigation by the sheriff’s office, State Police Collision Reconstruction
Unit and State Police Computer Crime Unit found that alcohol, drugs and
distraction from cell phone use were not factors in the accident.

It was concluded that Brailey likely became drowsy and drifted off the
road, striking Boyd, police said.

Brailey was charged with the traffic infractions of speed in excess of
55 mph and moving from lane unsafely.
