NEW YORK – Four days after Joshua Stuart, 42, had a gunfight with New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police in the Town of Wawarsing, he is in police custody in New York City.
Stuart was at Ellenville Regional Hospital early last Friday morning and initial reports said he fired a weapon outside the facility.
He later fled in a car, which was found abandoned, but when DEP Police located him in the Wawarsing woods, he opened fire on them. They fired back. No one was reported injured.
Stuart disappeared from the area but was later spotted in Brooklyn.  On Monday morning, he is believed to have committed an armed robbery and fled in a stolen car.
Following a dragnet by NYPD and State Police, investigators reported Monday evening that he was captured.
