MAHOPAC – Sunday was a magnificent autumn day with golden sunshine and brilliant blue skies. Thousands turned out for Putnam County’s annual Columbus Day Parade along Route 6 in Mahopac.
Linda Cefaloni, a member of the Columbus Day Parade Committee, thanked “our friends and supporters for making the 2018 edition of the parade a very special event.”
This year’s parade grand marshals were the county’s first Deputy County Executive Regina Morini and Carmel Highway Superintendent Mike Simone. Two honorary grand marshals who also participated in the parade were Sal Pascarella and Angelo Pugliese.
Mahopac Italian American Club President Giulio Cefaloni noted this year the club is celebrating its 90th anniversary. “Together with other families, the Morini and Simone clans were instrumental in the formation and construction of our club beginning in1928.”
The honorees along with Miss Columbus, Hannah Recine and Little Miss Columbus, Laura Deleg, joined dozens of community organizations and civic groups during the mile-long parade.
