TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Police are investigating an incident Friday morning in which two female students from Sheafe Road Elementary School who were walking to their bus stop on Route 9 near Wenliss Terrace were asked by a man in a car if they wanted a ride to school.
They went straight to the school safely and reported the incident to the school principal, who in turn notified Town of Poughkeepsie Police.
School officials said the vehicle was a dark gray Subaru Outback. The driver was a man in his 40s with a beard.
“This is an important reminder of speaking to children about potentially dangerous situations,” a message on the Wappinger Central School District website stated. It recommended that parents refer to KidsHealth.org  for additional information on how to protect children.
