MIDDLETOWN – Last Saturday’s civil service test for the position of police officer in the City of Middletown drew over 400 people and while that may appear to be a large number, some 18,000 people statewide took similar tests.
Middletown Civil Service Administrator and Alderman Joseph Masi told the council session Tuesday night results will not be available for months.
“We had 41 take the bi-lingual, 399 take the police officer exam – that was with us,” Masi said. “We also had, I think, 84 that had cross-filed and were taking another test, and one of the tests they were taking happened to be a state test, and whenever you take a state test, you can’t sit locally; you must sit. I don’t know if all 84 showed up. There is a chance that well over 500 would have taken it.”
Masi said that test scores will not be available until possibly December since the state grades them and there is such a high volume to be addressed.
