PORT JERVIS – Police in Port Jervis have a new contract with the city as the common council approved it this week.
The three-year and four-month agreement runs from September 1, 2018 through December 31, 2021 and includes a one percent raise effective September 1; 2.25 percent in 2019; and 2.5 percent increase in 2020 and 2021.
Mayor Kelly Decker is pleased with the pact.
“I feel it is a fair and equitable contract for the city and its residents and the police department,” he said.
The contract includes an employee contribution for health insurance, longevity raises and an increased stipend for earning an associate college degree.
The Port Jervis Police Department currently has 31 officers.
