BREWSTER – An autumn chill was in the air Sunday with temperatures flirting with the 60-degree mark yet thousands filled Brewster’s Main Street for the community’s first Fall Festival formerly known as Founder’s Day. Police estimated more than 5,000 attended the event.
Suddenly chilly late-summer weather didn’t keep the crowd away from the midway on Sunday
Men, women and children of all backgrounds and from all ethnicities enjoyed each other’s company by browsing through 112 exhibits featuring everything from Central and South American food delicacies to Pennsylvania Dutch pretzels, locally harvested honey, regionally produced jams and jellies, intricate arts and crafts, live entertainment and community services agencies displaying their wares.
Mayor Jim Schoenig looked around at the throng of humanity congregating on the village’s Main Street calling the day “a success story. We are so grateful to our organizers for this wonderful event.”
The Cultural Arts Coalition organized the street fair.
Judy Marano, executive director of the Studio Around the Corner, one of the organizers of the festival was thrilled with its success. “Brewster is back because our little village is all about people.”
