NEWBURGH – Members of the 105th Airlift Wing at the Stewart Air National Guard Base in the Town of Newburgh will be participating in the African Aerospace and Defence Air Show outside Pretoria, South Africa on September 19.
The 105th has participated in past year shows. The event is a combination trade show and air show that is held every two years at South Africa’s Air Force Base Waterkloof. The first three days of the five-day event are a trade show open to defense and aerospace officials, while the last two days are an air show open to the public.
A C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlifter from Stewart will be among the military aircraft that will participate at the show. The C-17, capable of operating on soft surface short fields, is used to fly supplies and troops and is one of the world’s premier transportation aircraft.
