WASHINGTON – The Office of National Drug Control Policy announced funding to assist non-profit organizations in the region to combat drug use among young people.
Each will receive $125,000.
The Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition will distribute its funding to Warwick Community Bandwagon, Inc., to conduct the day-to-day prevention operations by providing information to the community, enhancing skills and providing support, reducing access to drugs and changing consequences and policies around drug use, engaging youth in efforts to prevent substance use crises before they occur, and participating in prescription take-back days and disposal boxes.
Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster will use its funding to continue Operation P.J. Pride to address issues of substance abuse in the City of Port Jervis via day-to-day drug use prevention efforts.
The Council on Addiction Prevention and Education of Dutchess County (CAPE) will use its funding for the Southern Dutchess Community Coalition, which has been able to develop and expand in ways that have allowed programs and resources to reach the community’s youth, families and greater Dutchess County constituency.
