ANNANDALE-On-HUDSON – Bard College has received competitive grant funding of more than $182,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The funds are for two projects.
A grant of $132,340 is for the Scholarly Editions and Translations program. The project is entitled “Transcription and Translation of Franz Boas’s Kwakwaka’wakw Field Notes for a Critical Edition of His 1897 Monograph.”
A $50,000 grant is for a project entitled “The Sacred Band of Thebes and the Last Days of Greek Freedom (379-338 B.C.)”
“Bard takes great pride in fulfilling its role as a private college operating in the public interest,” said College President Leon Botstein. “We are deeply gratified to be recognized with two new grants from the NEH for our faculty work in the Categories of ‘Public Scholar Program’ and ‘Scholarly Editions and Translations.’ These projects, and this generous funding, help us broaden our efforts to bring the classics and scholarship to a wider audience.”
The grants were announced by Congressman John Faso.
