New bridge
nearing completion as the old one disappears

NYACK – The construction of the second span of the new Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge is expected to be completed in mid-September, Governor Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
The governor, who pushed to name the new bridge after his late father and drop the “Tappan Zee” reference, toured the facility on Monday.
Some local officials want to restore “Tappan Zee” to the new bridge name.
“People talked for decades for decades about replacing the Tappan Zee Bridge and now we’re now the cusp of making history. The new bridge will improve traffic flow and maximize the economic potential of the region and is a symbol of New York’s ability to accomplish big things for the people of this state,” the current governor said.
