Ribbon cutting at the pool building on Monday

MONTROSE – The swimming pool at the Montrose VA hospital formally
opened on Monday after being closed for some 17 years due to disrepair
and safety concerns.
The original regular temperature indoor pool at Montrose was converted to a therapy pool in 1999. It was closed in 2002 because of the need for major upgrades and repairs.
In 2014, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D, NY17) secured $6 million in federal funding to upgrade the pool and reconstruct damaged parts of the pool building.
A ribbon-cutting was held on Monday.
“High-quality, veteran-centered care is the daily focus at VA Hudson Valley and it is a privilege to serve those who have served,” said VA Hudson Valley Director Margaret Caplan.
