BEACON – The Dutchess County Public Transit’s G Route in Beacon is now the Beacon Free Loop offering riders a no-charge ride throughout the city.
Mayor Randy Casale said the free bus is expected to provide a vital service
for tourists and city residents.
“We’re hoping by enticing them to get n free will get people riding it,” he said. “We believe that to have a city walkable and bikeable, we need to have all forms of transportation and people need to get used to riding everything.”
Beacon will contribute $5,000 for the remainder of this year and $11,000 in 2019 toward the cost of running the new bus service.
