Middletown High School teacher arrested on attempted child endangerment charge

TOWN OF WALLKILL – State Police have arrested a Middletown High
School math teacher for attempted endangering the welfare of a child as
a misdemeanor.

Jonathan Castell, 44, had been communicating via social media and texting
with a person who he thought was a 15-year-old girl. The person was actually
part of a network of adults who target child predators.

Castell recently traveled to New York City for the purpose of meeting
the child.
He was arrested, issued an appearance ticket and released to appear
in Wallkill Town Court. State Police were assisted by the Orange County
District Attorney’s Office.
