KINGSTON – Noting that air permit applications are subject to the state DEC’s Environmental Justice Area Policy, Kingston Mayor Steven Noble is urging the agency to require more participation by city residents regarding the proposed Lincoln Park Grid Support Center in the Town of Ulster.
The mayor said a potential Environmental Justice Area is in the city
just 1.3 miles south of the proposed project location.
“We want this developer to be reaching out to the Kingston community, in particular the Environmental Justice Area, and to go above and beyond just the obligatory meeting and be able to show us a plan on how they plan to educate and interact with members of our low income, minority, Spanish speaking community here in Kingston,” Noble said.
The 20-megawatt Lincoln Park Grid Support Center is proposed near the intersection of Frank Sottile Boulevard and Miron Lane and would include electric generation via hybrid battery and a natural gas engine generation system integrated with new wind and solar generation.
