MIDDLETOWN – The new vision for the former Woolworth building in downtown Middletown is expected to be completed this fall and will include a pedestrian mall with four 2,000-square-foot retail spaces.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano said they have shown the space to over a half-dozen business owners while over 100 applications have been downloaded from the city website.
“We had an artisan baker from Westchester, we have had exercise program people who are very successful in the area,” the mayor said. “Those are the types of things that are interesting because they will bring people into the downtown area.”
The Race 4 Space is a competition for the storefronts. The successful proposals will receive rental incentives to bring their shops to downtown Middletown.
