TOWN OF CAIRO – A Catskill
man died Saturday afternoon with the motorcycle he was operating was struck
by a car.
State Police said Kevin Sweeney, 55, was ejected from his motorcycle and
was transported to a medical helicopter, but succumbed to his injuries
before he was loaded into the aircraft.
The accident occurred at 1:45 p.m. and it was determined that a 2018 Subaru
driven by Christine Cepale, 79, from Windham was traveling eastbound on
Lincoln Drive and crossed State Route 145 directly into the path of the
motorcycle operated by Sweeney.
The motorcycle struck the car in the front passenger side.
Cepale and her husband, Robert Cepale, 85, were transported to Columbia
Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
State Police were assisted at the scene by Cairo Police, the Greene County
Sheriff’s Office, the Cairo Fire Department and Cairo Ambulance.
