Car crashes into Middletown house; unconfirmed report of driver killed

MIDDLETOWN – A car being chased by Middletown Police early this
morning crashed into a house on Sterling Street with the driver being
killed.

Witnesses said that around 12:30 a.m., they saw a Middletown Police car
chasing a black Lexus on Fulton Street in the city.

The chase crossed Academy Avenue and onto Sterling Street.

Witnesses said the car went up on the sidewalk and crashed into the house
at 8 Sterling Street.

The crash took down the porch overhang and the car could be seen resting
up against the damaged house.

Sterling Street was blocked off with crime scene tape for all of the overnight
hours.

State Police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office assisted
Middletown City Police during the investigation.
