Area home sales dip in second quarter

GOSHEN – In the four-county
region represented by the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors –
Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester – only Orange experienced
an increase in home sales in the second quarter.
Sales of single-family homes rose by 2.9 percent in Orange County, but fell by 4.8 percent in Westchester, by 5.0 percent in Putnam, and by 10 percent in Rockland.
Sales of all types of residents – single-family, condos, coops and 2-4 family – increased by 1.9 percent in Orange County, but declined by 11.3 percent in Rockland, by 5.7 percent in Westchester, and by 4.6 percent in Putnam.
The most expensive single-family homes sold in Westchester at an average of $710,800. They sold in Rockland for $468,750, in Putnam $350,000 and in Orange for $250,000.
