WASSAIC – The state wants
to sell the 320 acres remaining at the former Wassaic Development Center,
also known as the Wassaic Campus of the Taconic Developmental Disabilities
Services Office.

To that end, the state’s Empire State Development Corporation Monday
issued a request for proposals for the purchase and redevelopment of the
property.

The residential portion of the Taconic Developmental Disabilities Services
Office campus was closed in 2014 in keeping with the state’s initiative
to support individuals with developmental disabilities in the community.

The campus is currently used for administrative offices, occupying four
buildings on the site as well as the on-site power plant.

The site is located at 26 Center Circle, consisting of the 320 acres,
including nine acres of ground floor area constituting some 740,000 built
square feet.

The state would like to see the property developed for mixed-use plans
that may include lodging and event space; residential, commercial and
cultural uses; and agricultural or other seasonal land uses.

Responses are due by Friday, September 28 at 2 p.m.
