Son charged with robbing parents’ home

CHESTNUT RIDGE – A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with stealing several thousand dollars worth of tools from his parents’ home.
The folks, who live in Chestnut Ridge, came home after being away for the Fourth of July holiday and found their work van and the tools missing. It was quickly determined that the residents’ son was possibly a suspect in the crime.
Ramapo Police officers and detectives broadcasted an alarm for the suspect. Based on the alarm, Village of Spring Valley Police stopped the van on Ewing Avenue. The 31-year-old suspect was charged with several crimes including burglary, grand larceny.
A 38-year-old Spring Valley man who was in the van at the time was found with crack cocaine. He was charged with misdemeanor drug possession and was also charged on outstanding warrants from the Village of Airmont and the Town of Orangetown.
Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court and were remanded to the Rockland County Jail on bail.
Ramapo Police did not release the names of either suspect.
