TOWN OF ORANGETOWN – The woman who went on a racially charged rant on a Rockland County Tor Bus on June 30 now faces charges. The driver of the county bus called 911 reporting that an irate passenger was creating a disturbance and threatening other passengers. One of the passengers captured the rant on cellphone video and posted it on Facebook and YouTube.
Anne Marie Messiano, 57, of Pearl River was removed from the bus but continued to act out. She was arrested on the charge of disorderly conduct by Orangetown Police for her actions outside of the bus.
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office was asked to investigate the situation further because the initial incident took place in a county operated vehicle. Following their investigation, new charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and aggravated harassment were filed. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Messiano is due back in Town of Orangetown Justice Court on July 19.
“Actions like these can never be tolerated on one of our county buses,” said said Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco. “We are committed to keeping everyone safe.”
