Man charged with murder in Poughkeepsie stabbing

POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie police responded to a stabbing at 6 Hoffman Avenue at about 1:45 this morning and found a 25-year-old city resident stabbed once in the chest. The victim was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Taken into custody at the scene was Michael Baker, 30, who was charged with second degree murder and is being held pending his arraignment.
An autopsy is being conducted by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
