MONGAUP VALLEY – The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol conducted an informational road check Friday morning on State Route 17B in Mongaup Valley in an attempt to locate additional witnesses to last week’s crash that claimed the life of a 10-year-old passenger.
Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said that deputies have interviewed all of the witnesses that came upon the accident after it occurred but are now attempting to locate anyone who may have actually seen the red Chevrolet Cobalt leave the roadway and strike a telephone poll.
“We estimate that the accident occurred at about 9:37 a.m., give or take a few minutes,” said Chaboty.  “We are looking for any witnesses to help us find that last piece to the puzzle.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash on Wednesday, June 20 near the NYSEG substation on State Route 17B is asked to call the Sheriff’s Patrol at 845-794-7100. All calls will be kept confidential.
