CARMEL – Putnam Hospital Center’s Farmers Market has returned.
The seasonal market open to the public is located on the hospital’s campus where a variety of Hudson Valley vendors sell their products each Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. adjacent to a patio at the rear entrance of the building adjacent to the Michael Webber Auditorium.
Hospital President Peter Kelly said the entire hospital family was pleased to “bring fresh produce and specialty items from our region’s local farms. This is a wonderful opportunity for Putnam residents to visit our campus while having access to wholesome and nutritious food.”
On Thursday, Jenny Hinsman who is managing the market this summer, welcomed Brian McDonnell of the Do Re Me Farm in Orange County and Siobhan Moore of Croton Falls, affectionately called the ‘egg lady,’ to the hospital.
Hinsman said on any given Thursday as many as five vendors visit and sell their fresh produce and other farm fresh edibles.
Fran DeMatteo stopped by to do her shopping saying her family “is eating healthy these days thanks to the market. There is nothing like farm fresh goods.”
The market will continue throughout the summer and early autumn.
