Fight between rival groups leads to gunfire

POUGHKEEPSIE – Gunfire
rang out after two rival groups were involved in a fight in the area of
120 Hudson Avenue near building one in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Police received a call at 1:26 p.m. of shots fire in that area and that
several people left the scene in a green Ford Explorer.

A short time later, the vehicle was located by officers on Dubois Avenue
and all of the occupants were brought to police headquarters for questioning.

Detectives determined that during the fight, one of the men got out of
the SUV and fired several shots at the other group. No one was hit. The
shooter and several others fled the scene in that vehicle that was stopped
a short time later.

The firearm used was recovered.

Police have charged Yassir Cruz-Rivera, 23, of the City of Poughkeepsie
with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm, both
as felonies.
