Man gets 12 to life for attempted robbery at Metro-North station

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man, who pled guilty in Westchester County
Court to attempted robbery as a felony for an incident in September 2016
at a Mount Vernon train station, was sentenced to 12 years to life in
state prison.

Arthur Branch, 47, approached two women at the Mount Vernon East Metro-North
train station at 11 p.m. on September 9, 2016 while armed with a box cutter
and demanded money and cell phones. He threatened to slash their faces
if they did not comply.

He forcibly took a smartphone from each victim and money from one of them.
He fled the scene and was arrested by MTA Police on December 1, 2016 with
assistance from the Mount Vernon Police and New York State Division of
Parole.
