COLD SPRING – After being housed in a trailer for years, the Cold Spring Post Office now has a more permanent facility.
Four years ago, the post office at the Foodtown plaza on Route 9D moved to the parking lot, but now has its own new location, said Postal Service spokesman George Flood.
“The property owner wanted to expand the Foodtown so when our lease ran out they graciously allowed us to move into a trailer back in 2014 and we have been working out of there for the last few years while the new post office building was being built; it’s in the old Butterfield Hospital site,” Flood said.
The new facility is located off Route 9D.
Cold Spring is among a select group of post offices around the country that accept first-time passport applications by appointment for the US Department of State. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays. To schedule an appointment log onto USPS.com. Select “International,” then use the only scheduler to make a passport appointment.
