MIDDLETOWN – The City of
Middletown’s independent auditor told common council members Tuesday
night that the city’s 2017 budget had a sound fund balance.
The city ended the year with a general fund balance of just under $10 million.
Auditor William Cochran of the RBT firm, said Middletown also has a solid capital plan for several projects.
“You have a lot of capital projects going on in the city,” Cochran said. “You are trying to improve infrastructure, save money on electricity; you guys have a great capital plan to improve the City of Middletown.”
Police and fire services totaled almost $17 million, the highest expense in the city’s budget.
