STEWART AIRPORT – Now that Norwegian Air has had a very successful year of service between New York-Stewart International Airport at Newburgh and five European cities, the low-cost carrier is starting to explore additional destinations.
Airline marketing director Anders Lindstrom wouldn’t let the cat out of the bag, though, as to what other destinations might be considered.
“There is a lot of potential out of Stewart in Newburgh,” Lindstrom said. “It’s not only because of its proximity to New York City, but also the region itself has a great catchment area so we see a lot of opportunities for the future. We just want to make sure that it is stable and possible growth that we don’t grow too fast at one airport.”
Norwegian currently flies non-stop to Dublin, Ireland; Shannon and Belfast, Northern Ireland; Edinburg, Scotland; and Bergen, Norway. London has been mentioned in the past as a possible new destination and Lindstrom conceded on Thursday that it would be a very popular one.
