Ceremonial ribbon cutting on Thursday

MT. TREMPER – State Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos came to the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center in Mt. Tremper on Thursday to cut the ribbon on a new outdoor pavilion.
Seggos also announced plans for a new fire tower to be constructed nearby. It will be tall enough for visitors to see above the tree tops.
“The fire tower will be more for tourism than for any of our official use for fire watching. It will have some interpretive signs inside and will be staffed up on occasion,” he said.
The interpretive center serves as the gateway for outdoor enthusiasts to learn about the Catskill Park.
