KINGSTON – The Appellate
Division, Third Department has affirmed the Ulster County Court’s
order of July 9, 2016 that denied Chad Olson’s motion to vacate
his conviction of sex crimes.

Olson was found guilty of course of sexual conduct against a child, sexual
abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, committed
against two children.

Following his 2013 conviction, Olson was sentenced by Ulster County Court
Judge Donald Williams to a term of 14 years in state prison followed by
10 years of post-release supervision.

Olson appealed an in 2015, his judgment of conviction was upheld by the
Appellate Division, Third Department of State Supreme Court.

Olson then filed a motion seeking to set aside his conviction on the ground
that his trial counsel was ineffective because he did not produce a qualified
expert witness. But at the hearing after Olson’s appeal was denied,
his lawyer said he did have another forensic psychologist testify and
that he was fully knowledgeable in the area of child sexual abuse.
