Wallkill man charged with assaulting town cops, drug possession

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A local man was arrested following a traffic stop in which the man fled, was apprehended, and assaulted three Town of Wallkill Police officers while being taken into custody.
The incident went down around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 8 when officers stopped a vehicle driven by Jacob Gill, 27, of the Town of Wallkill in the parking lot of the Stewart’s Shop on Tower Drive.
Gill was found in possession of 181 bags of heroin, 19 grams of cocaine and a knife.
A warrant search of his residence later yielded 10 bags of heroin, one gram of cocaine and a large quantity of packaging materials used for narcotics.
Gill was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $45,000 cash bail or $90,000 bond.      
Wallkill Town Police and the Special Operations Group of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.
