GOSHEN – A Goshen husband and wife were sentenced to community
service for failing to report almost $36,000 they obtained from a developmentally
disabled man living on their property, as well as other income.
As part of the disposition of the case, Orange County Court Judge William DeProspo ordered John Quick, 68, and his wife, Mary Quick, 63, to pay $35,783.67 to the man.
On April 19, John Quick pled guilty to felony criminal tax fraud and Mary Quick pled guilty to misdemeanor tax fraud. They admitted that they had failed to file state personal income tax returns for 2012 and failed to report income they obtained from the man, who had been living in a barn on their property. He is no longer living in the barn and is currently receiving assistance from Orange County Adult Protective Services.
John Quick were sentenced to a conditional discharge that included 500 hours of community service and Mary Quick was sentenced to a conditional discharge with 200 hours of community service.
