Teen killed in car crash near Horseshoe Bend

HUNTER – A 17-year-old girl was killed early Sunday morning when the car in which she was riding crashed on Route 23A near Horseshoe Bend in the Town of Hunter. Three other occupants were taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday that the driver, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, unreasonable and imprudent speed as well as other vehicle and traffic violations. He was sent to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
The names of the victim and driver were not made public in connection with the 5:40 a.m. accident.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Greene County District Attorney’s Office, State Police, Town of Hunter Police, Haines Falls Fire Department, Tannersville Rescue, Tannersville Fire Department, Palenville Fire Department, Town of Hunter Ambulance, Town of Catskill Ambulance and Greene County EMS.
