Police officers assaulted during traffic stop

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Two Poughkeepsie Police officers were assaulted while affecting a DWI arrest on May 19. The officers sustained minor injuries from being bit and punched by the defendant. After the stop, the resulting investigation lead the officers to determine Ramos-Perez be placed in custody for DWI.
The driver, Rony Ariel Ramos-Perez, 28, of Wappingers Fall, faces charges of assault, resisting arrest, aggravated DWI and other charges as a result of traffic stop for speeding on South Road. He was sent to Dutchess County Jail on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.
It is not known if the officers required hospital treatment.
