Elderly Ulster man arrested for trying to rob Dutchess bank

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A Highland man is in the Dutchess County Jail after being arrested on a charge of attempted robbery.
Poughkeepsie Town Police allege that Richard Fuhrmann, 74, tried to hold up the Citizen’s Bank branch at 32 Vassar Road on Monday, February 6, 2017. He fled without any proceeds.
On Saturday, May 26, 2018, the bank contacted the police to say the suspect from the previous attempted robbery was in a vehicle in the parking lot. He left before police arrived but was later located and taken into custody.
Fuhrmann was charged with felony attempted robbery and is being held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
