State prison employee arrested for stealing department funds

HUDSON – Authorities arrested a Leyden woman on charges that she stole money from the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision while employed at a facility. State officials reported to the State Police BCI the possible forgery and theft of funds from a state corrections bank account.
State Police from the Livingston barracks, authorities from the prison
Office of Special Investigations and the Columbia County District Attorney’s
Office arrested Maria Fey, 49, on 18 counts of forgery, and one count
each of grand larceny and falsifying business records, all as felonies.
Investigation led to Fey being charged with allegedly stealing over $3,000 from prison accounts. Police did not specify exactly how much was stolen.
Fey was released on her own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
