TAGHKANIC – No one was injured when a single-engine plane made
an emergency landing in a private field located next to Koeppe Road in
the Town of Taghkanic late Saturday afternoon.

The plane was en route from Hudson Valley Airport – formerly named
Dutchess County Airport – in Wappinger, to the Great Barrington,
Massachusetts Airport when he had to land.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reported the pilot indicted
his engine was stalling and would not restart around 12:30 p.m. so he
had to make an emergency landing in a grassy farm field.

When the plane touched down, its landing gear was lost because the ground
was not level. The left wing struck the ground causing the plan to spin
180 degrees.

Deputies said inspection of the aircraft revealed additional damage to
the prop and the belly of the plane.

The pilot was identified as Roger Tryon, 54, and the passenger was Steve
Snyder, 53, both of Monterey, Massachusetts.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
