NEW WINDSOR – Café Spice, the family-owned fresh prepared food manufacturer has decided to stay in New Windsor to expand their facilities by 40,000 square feet and hire additional employees beyond the 250 on staff now.
The company had come close to moving to the City of Beacon, but after
being offered incentives from the Town of New Windsor and Orange County,
the business decided to stay, said New Windsor Chief of Staff Colin Schmitt.
“The Town of New Windsor is going to be supporting a 10-year PILOT program on the expansion and is partnered with the County of Orange through County Executive Steven Neuhaus’ Office to help bring some employee training,” Schmitt said.
The county will also assist in recruiting employees and providing transportation to and from the job. The state’s Empire State Development Corporation has also appropriated funding for the expansion.
Café Spice produces packaged Indian foods as well as salads and sandwiches for chain supermarkets nationwide and overseas.
