Man charged with assault in case of mistaken identity

KINGSTON – A Kingston man was arrested on an assault charge after he allegedly attacked another man who was walking with his daughter.
Kingston City Police said Melvin Howell, 45, mistook the girl to be his girlfriend resulting in Howell assaulting the father and another man before he fled from the scene on Elmendorf Street last Thursday.
Howell was quickly apprehended and charged with two counts of assault.
