TOWN OF SAUGERTIES – Saugerties Police responded on Sunday to 2224 Route 32 in Glasco for a welfare check on five children reportedly left alone in the residence with no adult supervision.
A family member told investigating officers that the mother of the children
had left her residence about 1 Saturday morning and has not been seen
or heard from since.
The children ages 14, 9, 6, 3 and 1, were turned over to Child Protective Services.
The mother, Rebecca Hernandez, 31, finally returned to the residence shortly after 6 Sunday evening to awaiting officers, who took her into custody.  She was charged with five misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and released on an appearance ticket.
