COLD SPRING – Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, who had placed his name into consideration to fill the vacancy in the state attorney general’s post for the remainder of this year, has withdrawn from contention, but is considering a run for the post in the November general election.
Maloney, a resident of Cold Spring, said he is supporting Acting AG Barbara Underwood to serve for the rest of 2018. “She is a tremendously qualified candidate who could serve out the remainder of this term free of any political considerations,” he said.
Underwood, who holds a top-level position in the office, was named acting attorney general after Eric Schneiderman resigned following allegations he assaulted former girlfriends.
