Former homeless shelter to be developed for senior housing

GREENBURGH – The former WestHELP homeless shelter in the Town of Greenburgh will be developed into affordable senior housing.
A total of 74 units will be built out by Marathon Development Group, which will pay $1.5 million, $900 to Westchester County and $600,000 to the town, on behalf of the county, in exchange for the town relinquishing all rights to the site.
County Executive George Latimer there is a continued need for affordable senior housing.
“There is a graying a graying that is going on in Westchester County, but there is also need in other levels of economics and other levels of demographics,” Latimer said. “This particular site, because of what it is and the circumstances work well for seniors, we need to do more senior housing, we need to do more family housing, we need to do it in a variety of different ranges.”
Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner this project will provide “an enhanced quality of life to many senior citizens.”
