GOSHEN – Orange County Clerk Annie Rabbitt will announce today that she will run for retiring State Senate John Bonacic seat this fall.
Rabbitt, of Warwick and Bonacic, of Mount Hope are both Republicans. A former assemblywoman, Rabbitt is expected to officially announce her candidacy in Goshen.
Following Bonacic’s retirement announcement two weeks ago, Rabbitt was approached by party leadership on the local and state levels and urged to run.
In the interim, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec, a Deerpark Republican, said he would run for the Senate seat.
Two Democrats have announced their candidacy for the 42nd District Senate post – Rosendale Town Councilwoman Jen Metzger and CPV opponent Pramilla Malik of Wawayanda.
