NEW PALTZ – The State Board
of Elections has approved the nominating petition of Steven Greenfield
of New Paltz, who will appear on the Green Party line in the 19th Congressional
District in the November election.
Incumbent Republican John Faso will also face whoever wins the Democratic primary election.
Greenfield said Dutchess County Democratic leadership tried to have him knocked off the ballot over petition signatures, “not due to questions about their existence in the Green Party voters in the district, but technicalities about places on the pace in which their names, addresses, and even just part of their signing dates appeared.”
He said even after several signatures were removed, he had “enough beyond the minimum” to sustain his ballot position.
Greenfield, 56, is a former member of the New Paltz Board of Education.
