Two police cars crash; both drivers sustain minor injuries

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Police continue to investigate a crash between
police cars from the State Police and Town of Newburgh Police shortly
after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Troopers said both police vehicles were traveling southbound on Route
300; the trooper car was in the driving lane while the Newburgh vehicle
was traveling in the passing lane.

The trooper spotted an uninvolved vehicle traveling north on Route 300
in violation of the vehicle and traffic law and attempted a u-turn, striking
the Newburgh police vehicle on the passenger side.

Both drivers were transported to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in
Newburgh for evaluation. The town officer suffered an ankle injury and
was treated and released. The trooper was treated for a shoulder injury
and was also treated and released. The names of the injured officers were
not released.
